Just Playing Games (2019-2021)

My latest Chiptune City Pop Album is here, full of catchy and upbeat songs rendered using the nostalgic Famicom/NES sound chip! Combining my love for 80’s aesthetics, retro games and city pop, I have written each cover manually on Famitracker and accompanied it with a colorful retro style pixel art.

Each track was meticulously selected to ensure that my favorite singers and fan favorites were properly represented, and designed to sound as close and full as possible to the source material. Long time fans of the genre will be able to sing along to the entire song and enjoy the tracks in a completely different perspective that is just as charming as the original.

All tracks have been remastered to sound better than the versions published in my older albums, and new tracks were added to sweeten the deal. You'll hear familiar showstoppers on this compilation and experience some surprisingly good hidden gems too. You might even find your new favorite city pop song on here!

The MMC5 chip adds two extra pulse wave channels to the Famicom/NES’s base sounds, giving it more nuance to the composition while retaining the familiarity to listeners the world over.
